Radford Lake, tucked away between Plymstock and Hooe in Plymouth, lies within what was once the Radford Estate—home to the Harris family, an influential line dating back to the 16th century. At the heart of the estate once stood Radford House, a grand mansion overlooking the water, though it was sadly demolished in the 1930s.
The lake itself is man-made, originally serving as an ornamental feature and water source for the estate. Remnants of the past still linger—such as the Radford Arch, a striking stone gateway once marking the main entrance, and the boat house ruins on the lake’s edge.
Today, the area is a local treasure.
I haven't been to this part of the lake for many years. I think the last time I come over to the part was to do a bit of fishing as a young child. Since picking up a camera, I appreciate the beauty of things a lot more. Usually I walk around head down, going as fast as I can to the destination.
Go pick up a camera and see what is out there.
Below are a few of my shots from the couple of hours down there. I took mostly long exposure shots, i am a bit of a sucker for longer shutter times lately.
